The Rock is the only one who scores in this Disney retread. Swaggering star quarterback Joe Kingman (Johnson) suddenly finds his bachelor lifestyle cramped by the sudden arrival of Peyton (Pettis), the eight-year-old daughter he never knew he had. In a premise that only Disney could serve up, Peyton is from a previous marriage, although the idea that somehow Joe had no idea that his ex-wife had a child is not the most ridiculous aspect of the movie. This sets up an endless series of gags based on Joe not knowing how to interact with a little girl or, really, anyone outside of his agent (Sedgwick). Johnson's charm is undeniable, and Pettis is button-cute, but the rest is lukewarm family fare.
